an interview with you ;
This weeks interview is with Rahela @Rahela • Interiors & Lifestyle (@the_greynest)
City life in the west midlands offers the perfect balance between an abundance of amenities on the doorstep, (a key contributor when choosing their home to be near the hustle and bustle and extended family), whilst still being able to retreat back to a home with a large garden to enjoy a little peace and quiet.
Putting their own stamp and adding character to their 1970’s home Rahela notes; “sadly it didn't have much character but a lot of potential for expansion and to put our stamp on which we have recently explored and have enjoyed doing...” - truly making it their own.
"City living has it perks, all of my favourite home stores are here and just minutes away from us by car which is great for me but not so much for my husband! There is always so much to do and the city has a lot to offer.”
“It was important for my husband and I to be close to extended family when buying our home as we wanted our children who were young at the time to enjoy having family close by and the support was always welcomed. The location was also a key factor as living in a busy city, we wanted to be well connected but also have the space like a large garden to be able to move away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the peace too.”
Having always had a love for interiors Rahela is constantly deliberating her next project.
"My main inspiration comes from Instagram and all the other beautiful home accounts and small businesses on there. I also love visiting stores and in particular Neptune, The Cotswold co and The White Company.”
We asked Rahela what she feels makes a house a home;
“A home is somewhere I can instantly come and relax in, especially after a busy day. There is nothing quite like lighting a candle, some mood lighting and being surrounded by your loved ones that make you appreciate everything that you have. ”
We all have that one part of our home that we favour or love the most, whether it be the carefully curated décor choices that resonate deeply with our personal tastes and unique styles, or simply the undeniable fact that the space provides us an incredible sense of comfort and relaxation after a long and tiring day. There is always one special place within our homes that we enjoy the most and feel a profound connection to…With that in mind, we asked Rahela to share hers;
"It has to be without hesitation our kitchen. I poured my heart and sole into the design and execution of it and it wasn't easy at times! It truly is the heart of the home and we spend a lot of time in it as a family of five and our cat Milo loves it too. ”
It's always inspiring to learn more about the individuals and their unique homes behind the Instagram accounts we follow so closely, and it was truly wonderful to delve a little deeper into Rahela’s style & inspiration, hearing about her journey and how she has transformed her house into a warm and inviting home;
Your favourite home purchase?
There have been so many recently as we have not long finished our renovation, but if I had to choose it would be our sideboard which we purchased a couple of weeks ago. Grateful for plenty of storage and a great piece to style with too.
Worst home decision / purchase?
Towards the end of our renovation, we were rushing some of the paint colours in the rooms and I am now regretting a few which hopefully come Summer this year will be rectified!
Rahela’s favourite piece(s) from our collection?
One for fun we asked Rahela - Looking at the design / fabric of our cushions, which would you be if you were a cushion?
The Woven Leaf Print with Contrast Mocha Mousse trim - a gorgeous new classic!
Cushions, nearly all of them! But favourites have to be the George with Ruffle Frill Trim and the Hedgerow with Contrast Green Fringe Trim
We have to agree that the two cushions above are two of the most popular; with their interesting pattern, unique design and added luxury trim we can see why!
