Why I Created The Curated Cushion Sets & How They Make Decisions Easier…
A small story from the studio: When I look back to 2023, I can still picture the studio exactly as it was then — piles of fabrics, trims, samples and half‑finished ideas spread across every surface. I’d share a new cushion or a new print, and almost immediately the same messages would arrive:
“What goes with this?” “Would these work together?” “I love it, but I don’t know what to pair it with.”
And I understood it. Completely.
Choosing cushions sounds simple, but when you’re looking at colours, textures, trims, sizes and prints, it can feel anything but. Even in the studio, with everything laid out in front of me, I still spend time moving pieces around until something just feels settled.
So in 2023, I decided to make it easier.
That’s when the Curated Cushion Sets began — small, considered pairings and trios designed to take away the overwhelm and give you something that simply works.
A way to make styling feel calmer
The idea wasn’t to create anything complicated. It was the opposite. I wanted to offer ready‑made combinations that felt balanced, soft and effortless — the kind of pairings you’d naturally reach for if you had the time (and the piles of samples) to experiment.
Each set is created the same way I style in the studio: slowly, by eye, with fabrics laid out next to each other until the colours, textures and proportions feel right.
Some sets are gentle and meadow‑inspired. Some are deeper and more woodland‑led. Some are playful, with bolsters and ruffles. Some are simple and timeless.
But they all share the same intention: to make your home feel considered without you having to overthink a thing.
Three Years Later…
Now, in 2026, the curated sets have become one of my favourite parts of Alterme Home. They’ve grown with the collection — new prints, new trims, new shapes — but the purpose is still exactly the same.
People still tell me how much easier it feels to choose cushions this way. How a set has finished their sofa. How they finally feel confident mixing patterns. How they didn’t have to second‑guess themselves.
And that’s really why I keep creating them.
Introducing this season’s new curated sets
As the collection has grown, so has the way I approach these pairings. This season’s sets continue the same idea that started back in 2023 — combinations that feel balanced, soft and easy to live with — but with new fabrics, new shapes and a few exclusive prints that have become part of Alterme Home.
Some sets lean into gentle meadow greens. Some are deeper and more woodland‑led. Some bring in playful bolsters and ruffles. Others stay simple and timeless.
Each one has been created slowly in the studio, piece by piece, until the colours and proportions felt settled. I hope this season’s collection makes choosing cushions feel calmer, and helps you find combinations that feel at home in your space.
